The Mixed Martial Arts Sports Federation of India conducted the second round of National Selection Trials in Mumbai from 29 to 30 January to select athletes to represent India at the 3rd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship.
These trials were organized as open national selections. Athletes from across the country were given an equal opportunity to participate and compete for a place on Team India. The entire process was merit based and transparent, with selection decided strictly by results on the mats.
All bouts were conducted under official rules and regulations. Proper procedures such as weigh ins, medical checks, rules briefings, approved competition attire and safety equipment were mandatory. Certified referees and judges officiated every match to ensure fairness and consistency. The event saw strong participation, discipline, and enthusiasm and the competition progressed smoothly as scheduled.
Gold medalists from each qualifying category earned direct selection to represent India.
Following the trials, the selected team traveled to Luzhou, China to compete at the 3rd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship from 9 to 11 January 2026. This championship served as the first ranking series for the Asian Games 2026 and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2026, making the National Selection Trials an important step in India’s pathway to major continental events.
The successful conduct of the trials reflected MMA-SFI’s commitment to professionalism, structure and fair selection while providing Indian athletes a clear platform to compete and represent the nation at the highest level.
