Our Athletes' Safety Comes First - Always

MMA-SFI is committed to creating a safe, respectful and abuse-free environment for every individual involved in the sport whether they’re athletes, coaches, officials, support staff or volunteers.

As a newly formed body laying the foundation for Indian MMA’s future, we are actively building safeguarding systems and policies that will protect children, women, vulnerable adults and all participants in our ecosystem. This is a priority, not an afterthought.

What Safeguarding Means to Us

Safeguarding is about protecting people from harm including physical, emotional, sexual and psychological abuse-in any setting connected to our sport.

It also includes:

  • Preventing bullying, harassment or exploitation
  • Ensuring athletes, coaches, officials and support staff behave responsibly
  • Creating environments where participants feel safe to speak up
  • Educating everyone involved about boundaries, respect and accountability

Our Current Focus

While our systems are still being built, MMA-SFI has begun the groundwork for safeguarding by:

Working towards drafting a Code of Conduct for all registered coaches, officials, athletes and support staff

Developing reporting procedures that are accessible and anonymous

Identifying safeguarding points of contact at all major events starting soon

Working towards setting up a formal Safeguarding Committee (POSH) to handle complaints and concerns

Starting awareness sessions (online and offline) for academies and state affiliates

What We Expect from Our Members

All affiliated academies, coaches and state units will soon be required to:

  • Sign and uphold MMA-SFI’s Safeguarding & Code of Conduct Policy
  • Appoint a designated safeguarding contact person within their academy or state
  • Report any suspected misconduct or abuse to MMA-SFI immediately
  • Cooperate with any investigations or reviews conducted by the federation

Any action or behaviour that puts any individual connected to the sport especially minors and women at risk will be taken seriously and may result in suspension, de-affiliation or a permanent ban.

How to Report a Concern (Starting Soon)

We’re currently setting up our Safeguarding Cell. In the meantime, concerns can be raised directly with the central MMA-SFI team via email:

Email: admin@mmasfi.org
(All reports will be handled confidentially)

You may report:

  • Harassment or misconduct by a coach, official, athlete or staff member
  • Concerns about athlete safety or wellbeing
  • Suspected abuse or inappropriate behaviour
  • Unsafe training environments

Building a Safer Sport - Together

We’re still a young federation but we believe the duty to protect comes before performance or results. As our structure grows, safeguarding will be at the centre of how we train, compete and lead.

Every athlete deserves to grow in an environment that values safety, dignity and respect.

MMA-SFI is committed to making that the standard.
