Team India delivered an impressive performance at the 4th Asian MMA Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 20 to 22 May 2026 finishing the tournament with four podium finishes against some of Asia’s top MMA athletes.

The Indian contingent comprised 13 athletes, who competed across the Modern MMA and Traditional MMA disciplines. The championship was a crucial event in the Asian MMA Ranking Series which determines qualification for the Asian Games 2026 in Japan and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2026 in Saudi Arabia.

India’s best result came through Nayan Manlik, who won the Silver Medal in the Women’s Traditional MMA 54 kg category.

Three more Indian athletes added to the medal tally with Bronze Medal finishes. Suchika Tariyal won the Bronze medal in the Women’s Traditional MMA 60 kg category, Pooja Devi claimed Bronze in the Women’s Modern MMA 49 kg division, and Praveen Gupta secured Bronze in the Men’s Traditional MMA 56 kg category.

With the conclusion of the Asian MMA Ranking Series, India has successfully secured representation at both the Asian Games 2026 in Japan and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2026 in Saudi Arabia. The performances throughout the ranking events have marked another significant step in the country’s progress on the continental stage.

The Mixed Martial Arts Sports Federation of India congratulates all the athletes, coaches, officials and support staff who contributed to this campaign. As Indian MMA continues to grow, the focus now shifts towards preparing for two of the biggest multi-sport events in Asia later this year.
