Team India shines at the 3rd Asian MMA Championship in Luzhou, China.
The Mixed Martial Arts Sports Federation of India (MMA-SFI) proudly celebrates a strong
performance by Team India at the 3rd Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship held in Luzhou, China from 9 to 11 January 2026.
This was not just any team. Every athlete earned their place.
The squad was selected through official national trials conducted by MMA-SFI in Mumbai where the best fighters from across the country competed for a spot on Team India. Only the top performers qualified to represent the nation on the Asian stage.
The final contingent included fourteen athletes, four coaches and three officials. Our referees and judges were also officially invited by the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association reflecting the growing respect for Indian officials in international MMA.
With athletes from twenty countries in action, the competition level was high. Stil Team India showed grit, skill and composure inside the cage.
Gold for India
The biggest highlight came from Rekha Chaudhary, who won the gold medal in the Women’s Traditional MMA Under 69 kg category.
She delivered a confident and dominant performance and stood at the top of the podium for
India
With this win, she has directly qualified for the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2026 in
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She also received a cash prize of two thousand US dollars for her achievement.

Each of them showed heart, discipline and fighting spirit throughout the tournament. All fourathletes received a prize of one thousand US dollars each from the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association.
A proud finish for India
Based on the overall medal tally, India ranked seventh among twenty participating nations. Only the top eight countries received official recognition and India proudly secured its place among them with a certificate of achievement.
More than the medals, this championship showed how fast Indian MMA is growing. From
national trials in Mumbai to competing against Asia’s best, our athletes proved that they belong on the international stage.
