The Indian contingent delivered an impressive performance at the 2nd Youth Asian MMA Championship, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 16 to 18 May 2026, bringing home four medals and continuing India’s rise on the Asian MMA stage.

Represented by a contingent of seven young athletes and two coaches, Team India competed against some of Asia’s best youth competitors in both Modern MMA and Traditional MMA. The championship gave India’s young fighters another opportunity to test themselves against top international talent while gaining valuable experience.

Leading India’s medal tally was Shriya Satam, who won the Silver Medal in the Under 18 Girls Modern MMA 50 kg category after an excellent performance throughout the tournament.

India added three Bronze Medals through Aarush Kar, who finished on the podium in the Under 16 Boys Modern MMA 70 kg category, Aryan Khare who secured Bronze in the Under 16 Boys Traditional MMA 65 kg division and Faisal Mushtaq who claimed Bronze in the Under 18 Boys Traditional MMA 75 kg category.

With four podium finishes, India secured 5th place in the overall team standings reflecting the steady progress of the country’s youth MMA programme at the continental level.

India also had a strong presence among the championship officials. Mr. Jitendra Khare, Ms. Prachiti Nagpurkar and Ms. Preksha Jhaveri were appointed as International Technical Officials (ITOs) and served on the referee and judges panel for the championship. Their appointments reflect the growing recognition of Indian officials at major international MMA events.
